Psychological Testing Services
Why is Psychological Testing Helpful?
When a patient has overlapping or unclear symptoms, it can be hard to make an accurate diagnosis. Psychological testing includes diagnostic clarification as well as useful recommendations for planning future care. IHC Associates currently has one psychologist with specialties in psychological testing and sleep assessment.
Testing can help clinicians to:
- Distinguish an organic neurological problem from a dysfunctional behavioral pattern
- Prevent misdiagnosis and ineffectual treatment
- Measure individual cognitive and intellectual strengths and weaknesses, personality traits, feelings, and beliefs that influence the problem
- Develop useful recommendations, such as timelines for planning and coordinating care, to help the patient improve or maintain functioning
Primary Areas of Testing/Assessment
General Cognitive Assessments
Cognitive testing distinguishes organic neurological symptoms from symptoms due to a mental health concern. Useful in clarifying diagnosis and treatment options for vascular events, dementia, AD/HD and more.

Medical Procedure Assessments
Medical procedures including bariatric surgery and neuro pain stimulator implantation benefit from psychological assessment to determine patient eligibility and compliance.

Educational Assessments
Measuring intellectual, academic, and emotional development can help to diagnose learning disorders, educational delays, AD/HD, and other causes of challenges in the classroom.

Sleep Assessments
Poor sleep can contribute to low moods and poor functionality. Assessments can help patients develop positive habits to mitigate sleep-related problems.
